Hi Families!
The PTA is proud to bring a new, exciting event to the PS 132 community: The Spring Gala Auction. The event will be held Thursday, April 22 at Giando on the Water: www.giandoonthewater.com. It’s a beautiful location with amazing views which we hope inspires a lovely evening out to bring together the parents of the PS 132 community.
By now, you should have received information in your child’s take home folder about this event. If you would like to view again the flier you received (or if you somehow failed to receive it) please click the link below where you will find it!
School auctions have been used very successfully by many New York City schools as a major fundraising event. Similar Title I schools such as ours annually raise over 20,000 from this one event. This is our first year organizing a Spring Gala Auction, and so we are setting our goal for this first year at 10,000. We need your help to achieve this goal.
The PTA is viewing the Spring Gala Auction as an expansion of a previous PTA event, The Penny Social: a nighttime mixer for parents only. For the Penny Social, families were asked to bring their own prepared foods and beverages. This year’s Spring Gala Auction will also have tickets soon for sale; however, the great news is is that these ticket prices will include a full meal and unlimited wine at the event!
There are many ways everyone can pitch in to help make this event a successful one for our school:
1. By attending! Make your plans now to secure babysitting and come enjoy the festivities.
2. By supporting your class parents as they organize classroom projects. If you haven’t been contacted by your class parent yet, you will be soon! We are hoping, with the help of our awesome classroom parents, to inspire each class to make a kid-created project to be auctioned off at the Gala. Your classroom parents need your help and creativity to achieve this goal!
3. By bringing in a donated item that will be auctioned off in a silent auction format. A great idea list is included with the Spring Gala Letter, so if you need to get those ideas flowing, click the linke below! The Donation Form and Letter are here also for your convenience. We encourage you to make as many photocopies of these forms as you need.
Happy donation shopping!
Best regards,
Trish Hale Spring Gala Co-Chair

Hi,
I have reached out to some of my coleeagues at Scholastic and secured donations from the Scholastic Store of a Harry Potter hardcover book set (along with a few HP goodies), a an assortment of Scholastic Media products (DK I love the USA CD-Rom, learning software, Word Girl software).
In addition, my husband, François, will donate two pendant lights called “Country” and “City”. There are photos of the lights on the Voos website: http://www.voosfurniture.com/#/lighting/country-city or on his company website at: http://umproject.com/fo_countrycity_01.html if you would like to show a thumbnail in the auction catalogue. High-res images are available upon request.
Unfortunately, we will not be able to attend the event since I attend classes at Columbia on Thursday evenings. I am sure you will all have a great time. Enjoy!
Thanks,
Kathleen Chambard
Hi Kathleen,
Thank you so much for these amazing donations! It’s great to let people know the kind of great stuff that is coming from parents such as yourself. With great stuff like this, I truly think we will reach our fundraising goal of 10,000.
Thanks again–and best wishes with your studies!
Best,
Trish Hale
