Trish Hale introduced herself as the PTA President. Tara Sansone is the Vice President, Krista Martel is the Treasurer, Danielle Donowski is the Recording Secretary. Parents were thanked for coming. Chrissy Singh was thanked for her help transitioning new PTA.
Valerie Kingstein described the SLT, the student leadership team. Meetings take place once a month and parents are welcome to attend. There is an open position available.

Krista Martel reported the opening balance for the PTA is 8265.08. Krista also outlined fundraising goals and expectations for the year. The PTA hopes to raise 50k this year and put money towards: yoga, sugar cane trays, nutrition programs, curriculum enrichment programs.
Courtney from Bent on Learning described the benefits for children from doing yoga. Bent on Learning is offering 2 semesters of yoga for 15k; last year, we received one semester of yoga for 14k. Yoga is in addition to gym and not a substitute for gym.
Tara Sansone announced the date of the Harvest Festival: October 24. Tara Sansone is organizing the volunteers for the Harvest Festival. People were asked to sign up on one of four committees at meeting’s end.
Trish Hale announced two current fund drives: Miss Chocolate and Mother Earth. Miss Chocolate is a catalogue based fundraiser beginning Monday, Sept. 21 and concluding Oct. 13. Mother Earth is a web only drive beginning Friday Sept. 25 and ending Friday Oct.12.
The funds from Mother Earth Fundraising will be dedicated to replacing styrofoam trays in the cafeteria with biodegradable sugar cane pulp trays.
Stacey Cahn spoke about the sugar cane trays and referred to www.sosnyc.org. We need $6700 to replace the styrofoam trays with sugar cane trays. Stacey also introduced the terracycle fundraiser. Catalogs will go home Friday.
A vote took place on funding bent on learning and the styrofoam replacement.

Susan Anderson of Town Square described a walk-a-thon to raise money for 132
Beth Lubeck took the floor. Our test scores were reported to have increased to 84% in ELA and 94% in math.
We raised $1100 from the El Loco burrito fundraiser that took place before the PTA meeting.
We have a new music teacher this year and the instruments will be coming out of storage.
We will be having TADA again.
